| 1.0 The 2002
Gray Creek Regatta will commence with Race 1 on Saturday, August 30,
2003 and end on Sunday, August 31,
2003. It will consist of races around laid buoys off the shores of Gray
Creek, B.C., on Crawford Bay in Kootenay Lake. There will be a Skippers' Briefing held at 9:30am on August 30 on the beach adjacent to the Gray Creek Store and Campground, and prize giving will be held at the same location following racing (approximately 2:30pm, August 31). 2.0 The Organising Authority is the Kootenay Lake Sailing Association 3.0 The event will be split into two separate divisions comprising the classes listed: Division 'A' - All Cruisers Division 'B' - All Dinghies and Multi-hulls (depending on number of entries in this class) 4.0 The Regatta will be governed by: 1. The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004 (RRS) 2. PHRF Handicaps (Division A) 3. Portsmouth Handicaps (Division B) 4. The Sailing Instructions and this Notice of Race 5.0 The Regatta Series consists of five races, scored on Low Points (1st place=.75 points, 2nd place=2 points, 3rd place = 3 points, etc.) and based on Corrected Times (using PHRF Handicaps for Division A and Portsmouth Yardstick handicaps for Division B). 6.0 Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st , 2nd and 3rd Prizes (Division “A”) 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes (Division “B”) 7.0 The Organising Authority and Sponsors are providing this Regatta only on the understanding that neither they nor their representatives bear any responsibility for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to any competitor, skipper or crew as a result of their taking part in the series. 8.0 By entering, each competitor warrants the suitability of the entered boat for the races. Prior inspection of the boats does not in any way limit the absolute responsibility in this respect of the Owner/Skipper entering the boat. 9.0 In particular, owners shall accept full responsibility for the seaworthiness and safe navigation of their boats and the competence of their crews, and use their own judgement whether to start, continue or retire from the race in the existing or forecast conditions. Owners shall draw the attention of the crews to this disclaimer before the start of any race, and also to RRS Fundamental Rule 4 (Decision to Race). We encourage keel boats to find secure moorage at Fishawk Bay Marina at the head of Crawford Bay or secure moorage at Lakeview Store and Marina south of the Grey Creek Store.
